*** Maximum allowed to be contribution to Gordon's campaign in 2011 is $1100.  Additional donation amounts up to $1100 can be made to the National Party in 2011 (see "Donation Limits" below)

The refund (or reduction in tax payable) depends only on the amount donated and not on taxable income. One only needs to file a tax return in order to receive it.  The tax credit formula is:

  • for contributions between 0 and $400, you will get back 75%;
  • for contributions between $400 and $750, you will get back $300 plus 50% of the amount over $400;
  • for contributions over $750, you will get back $475 plus 33.3% of the amount over $750 up to a maximum of $650 of tax credit annually.

Please Note:

  • Although the donation limit is $2200 when summed between Gordon's campaign and the National party, the maximum tax credit is only available on $1275 of the donation, which would provide a $650 political contribution.
  • Only $1100 of this contribution can be made to the Gordon O'Connor's campaign.  The remainder should be made to the national party.
